چکیده
Washington. Since then the graduate student symposium has been providing a unique venue for fisheries students to meet and discuss their work, and to foster communication links between graduate students in different west coast universities and departments. This report is an attempt to disseminate the information on current research and ideas been developed by students in the different universities, and as so, contains abstracts and summaries presented by each speaker at the third annual conference. Readers interested in further details on the research work presented in this report should contact the respective authors at the addresses provided in the list of participants. We thank everyone who made the event possible, specially all the students for the pleasant atmosphere during the meeting. Thanks also to the Faculty of Graduate Students, UBC, and specially for Tony Pitcher, Director of the Fisheries Centre, for providing funds and support for the conference. The symposium was organized in four general subjects: ecosystems and fisheries; fish population dynamics and behaviour; climate and fisheries; and fisheries management. There was much discussion and an open exchange of views as the participants took advantage of an opportunity to discuss their research without the perception of pressure from advisors, faculty, or established researches. The conference was a success, illustrative of the high quality of fisheries research that is being conducted in the Pacific Northwest. Next years symposium will be held at the School of Fisheries, University of Washington. Shining a Light on Fish at Night: An Overview of Fish and Fisheries in the Dark of Night, and in Deep and Polar Seas
—In aquatic environments, what one observes during the day can differ substantially by night. The species composition and associated ecological processes that occur during the day are often different than night. In polar seas and at great depths, “night” can span, months, years, and beyond. Teleosts and elasmobranchs have evolved unique sensory and behavioral modalities for living in darkness. ...

Fish sampling was conducted to evaluate the species diversity of fish in 4 stations in Sanandaj Azad dam ecosystem seasonally from summer of 2017 to spring of 2018. A total of 1057 fish were caught in 12 species, of which more than 80% were caught in the lake behind the dam. The Cyprinidae family had 11 species with the most species diversity and only Sasanidus kermanshahensis belonged to the N...

متن کاملResearch Article: Trophic dynamics analysis and ecosystem structure for some fish species of northern Oman Sea
In the present study, a trophic structure model for some fish species of the northern Oman Sea is developed through using mass balance modeling software, Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE). In this model, we simulated 16 functional groups spread across an area of 3998.20 km2 from 2017 to 2018. Mean trophic level in the area of the present study was 3.49. Values calculated for system omnivory and connect...
